Care Instructions

Lingerie is not delicate because it is fragile. It is delicate because it is engineered — fine elastics, moulded cups, stretch lace, all doing precise work. Treated properly, a good bralette lasts years. Put through a hot cycle with your jeans, it will not survive the season.

The short version

• Hand wash in cool water wherever you can.
• If you machine wash, use a mesh laundry bag, cold water and a delicate cycle.
• Never tumble dry.
• Never wring, twist or hang a wet bra by its straps.
• Skip fabric softener and bleach entirely.

Washing by hand

Fill a basin with cool water — around 30°C or cooler — and add a small amount of mild detergent. Submerge the piece, press gently to move water through the fabric, and leave it for five to ten minutes. Rinse until the water runs clear. Do not rub the fabric against itself; friction is what pills lace and stretches elastic.

Machine washing

Use a mesh laundry bag, one bra or two briefs per bag. Fasten every hook before it goes in, or those hooks will find the lace on everything else in the drum. Select a delicate or hand-wash cycle, cold water, and the lowest available spin. Wash lingerie with lingerie — towels and denim are abrasive, and zips are worse.

Drying

Press the piece between two towels to draw out water. Do not wring it. Lay flat to dry, away from direct sunlight and radiators. Heat is what breaks down elastane, and a tumble dryer will do more damage in one cycle than six months of wear.

Moulded cups should be dried in their natural shape, not folded inside out — once a cup creases, it does not fully recover.

Care by fabric

Lace and mesh

Hand wash only. Fasten hooks first, and keep lace away from anything with velcro, sequins or rough seams. Store flat rather than crushed.

Cotton and cotton blends

The most forgiving fabric in the collection. Machine washable at 30°C in a bag; expect a small amount of natural shrinkage on the first wash, which is why we cut with it in mind.

Microfibre and seamless

Cool wash, no softener. Fabric softener coats the fibres and kills the smooth handle that makes seamless pieces invisible under clothes.

Swimwear

Rinse in cold fresh water immediately after swimming, before chlorine or salt has time to sit in the fabric. Hand wash the same day, dry flat in shade. Avoid sitting on rough poolside surfaces — they will snag the knit.

Storage

Store moulded bras stacked in their cup shape, never inverted. Fold soft bralettes flat. Keep briefs in a separate compartment so hooks and lace do not meet. If a piece is going away for the season, make sure it is completely dry first — damp storage is how good lingerie develops permanent marks.

Getting more wear from each piece

Rotate rather than repeat. Elastic needs a day to recover its shape, so wearing the same bra two days running shortens its life measurably. Three or four pieces in rotation will each outlast a single favourite worn constantly.
